1. Hastings Rental Agreement

All vehicle rentals through Hastings are subject to a detailed Rental Agreement provided at booking confirmation or at vehicle collection. That agreement sets out the specific terms, conditions, insurance information, charges, and your responsibilities for the relevant rental. If there is any conflict between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.

2. Hastings Eligibility

To rent a vehicle from Hastings, you must:

  • Be at least 21 years old (age limits may vary by vehicle type; extra charges may apply for drivers under 25). Hold a valid, full driving licence appropriate to the vehicle category, held for the minimum period set out in the Hastings Rental Agreement. Provide valid photo identification and proof of address or other documents required at collection.

3. Reservations and Payments

  • Bookings may be made via our website, by phone, or in person at our Hastings location. A booking deposit could be required to confirm your reservation. 4. Vehicle Pickup and Return

  • Hastings requires customers to inspect the vehicle at collection and report any existing damage to Hastings immediately. A vehicle condition report will be completed and signed. Return the vehicle in the same condition as when collected, allowing for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be assessed and charged to the hirer.

5. Hastings: Insurance and Liability

  • Basic third-party insurance is included with all Hastings rentals. Full coverage details and excess amounts are provided in the Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be available to reduce your financial liability. Hastings recommends reviewing these carefully. You are responsible for damage or loss up to the excess amount specified in the Rental Agreement.

6. Cancellation and Amendments

Hastings' cancellation and amendment policies differ by booking type and notice period. Please refer to your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement for specific details. Late cancellations or no-shows may result in charges.

7. Restricted Uses

You must not use the rented Hastings vehicle for:

  • Any unlawful purpose or activity involving a Hastings vehicle. Racing, rallying, off-road use, or other hazardous activities. Transporting hazardous or regulated materials. Sub-letting to third parties or permitting unauthorized drivers. Operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Use for purposes the vehicle is not intended for...

Violating these restrictions may result in immediate rental termination and Hastings fees.

8. Hastings Liability Limitations

To the maximum extent permitted by English and Welsh law, Hastings will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or loss of profits, data, or business, arising from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claim arising from or connected to the services will not exceed the total charges you paid to Hastings for the hire that gave rise to the claim.

9. Governing Law for Hastings

For Hastings, these Terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

10. Hastings Terms Update

Hastings may modify these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon posting on our website. Continuing to use Hastings services after posting indicates acceptance of the updated Terms.
